UGANDA GORILLA SAFARI (12 DAYS)

This Uganda Gorilla Safari takes to different National Parks and tourist destianAtions in Uganda: Ngamba Island to view the chimps, Kampala for a city tour and cultural site visits, Lake Mburo National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, and Murchison Falls National Park.

TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Entebbe - Ngamba Island
Arrive and meet with our Adventure Trails’ driver or guide and proceed to Ngamba Island for an overnight. You will have a boat trip to the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary at 12:25 hours and a chimpanzee feeding at 1400 hours. Dinner and overnight at Ngamba Island tented Camp.
           
Day 2: Transfer to Kampala
At 0800 return to the mainland and proceed to Kampala for a city tour, a visit at the Kasubi Tombs and the Uganda Museum. You may have an option of visiting the art and craft centers to make some shopping of the traditional items which Uganda has. Dinner and overnight at Speke Hotel or Hotel Africana

Day 3: Kampala - Lake Mburo
After breakfast, depart Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park, a 230km drive having a stopover at the Equator and Royal drum makers. When approaching the park, you will have a game drive. Have lunch at the park and proceed for a boat trip on Lake Mburo to view bird and animal life at the banks. You will have dinner and an overnight at Mantana Tented Camp or Rwonyo camp.

Day 4: Lake Mburo - Bwindi
After breakfast, have a game drive to view  the Impala, Zebra, Warthog, Hyena, Leopard, Buffalo, Civet, Genet, Topi, Eland, Klipspringer, Oribi, Sitatunga, eland and crocodile. Enroute to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a home of mountain gorillas which is west across the Albertine Rift Valley, roughly 7hours. Its hilly and muddy topography attracts gorillas, birdlife such as the Bar Tailed Trogon, African Green Broadbill and many others. On your arrival, you may decide to have a nature walk which leads you to Munyaga Waterfall having an opportunity to view the blue monkeys, Grey-cheeked Mangabey and other primate species or an optional relaxation the accommodation unit. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort/Buhoma Community Bandas (Full Board)

Day 5: 1st Gorilla trek
After breakfast, depart with your packed lunch to the ranger headquarters where briefing will take place concerning gorilla trekking. The tracking may take between 2 and 6 hours with the help of experienced guides. It’s amazing to listen and observe the gorillas in the forest while they marvel and grumble to each other. In the afternoon relax at the camp or go for a Village walk to visit the Local Batwa Community returning to the Camp in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort/Buhoma Community Bandas (Full Board)

Day 6: 2nd Gorilla trek
Morning breakfast and head for the second gorilla trekking in the park with packed lunch along side an experienced guide. This time, you will trek a different gorilla group. The trek may be tiresome but enjoyable. Your encounter with the great primates gives a good portrayal of trekking. You will appreciate the jungle sound as you see various forest Flora and fauna. Go for relaxation after the tiresome second gorilla trek. Overnight at Gorilla Resort or Buhoma Community Bandas (FB)

Day 7: Bwindi - Queen Elizabeth National Park
Morning breakfast and enroute to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a 4 hours drive. On the enroute, you may be rewarded with views of Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Buffaloes, Hyenas and a variety of Antelope species.

GORILLA SAFARIS

On arrival in the park, enjoy the exclusive evening 2-hour launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Here you will view the abundant birdlife, hippos and many animals that may be seen drinking at the water's edge. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge /Jacana Safari Lodge / Institute of Ecology (FB)

Day 8: Kyambura chimpanzee and Maramagambo Forest Walks
An early morning chimpanzee tracking in the Kyambura gorge and other primates. When chimp tracking, the walking activity is fascinating while the viewing may be unpredictable.  You may have an alternative of a forest walk in Maramagambo Forest to view the different diversity of plant life. Then visit the bat cave and the blue lake. After, precede to Kibale Forest National Park through Ishasha the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park prominent for its tree-climbing lions. You will observe a diversity of animal species while having lunch. Continue to Fort portal town then up to Ndali Lodge or Primate Lodge for dinner and overnight (FB).

Day 9: Chimpanzee trekking at Kibale
You will be taken to Kanyanchu headquarters for briefing with your packed lunch, before you go for our chimpanzee tracking and other primates including Red-Colobus, phoestes, Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabey. When walking through the forest, you will see a diversity of plant and animal life which is an incredible occurrence. After lunch, have a Bigodi Swamp walk in bid to view the birds and monkeys that inhabit the swamp. Dinner and overnight at Ndali lodge or Primates Lodge (FB)
 
Day 10: Enroute to Murchison Falls National Park
From Kibale Forest, proceed to Murchison Falls National Park, a 7 hours drive. This is a long drive as you travel north through the Rwenzoris and the evergreen tea estates. When you reach the heart of the Park which is the Nile, you will here the laughing of hyenas, the roar of lions and the grunting of hippos. Overnight at Red Chili Rest Camp (FB)

Day 11: Wildlife viewing /boat rides
After breakfast, you will go for an early morning game drive to the rolling plains where you have chances of viewing Lions, Giraffe, Hartebeest, Buffalo and Elephant as well as many of the other mammals of the park. Birding as an activity is suitable to be carried out due to the presence of Marshal Eagles, Black chested Snake Eagle, Swallow Tailed Bee-Eaters, Carmine, Secretary Bird and many others. At the powerful waterfall on the River Nile,– where huge herds of elephant, Uganda Kob, warthog, baboon, lion, leopard, buffalo, Rothschild giraffe will be viewed clearly, and a boat cruise up the Nile where mother hippos will threaten to attack to protect their young. Afternoon boat ride will be carried out up the river to the bottom of the falls, where boils of water, floating crocodiles and pods of hippo intersperse with some of the best bird viewing in the world.  Overnight at Red Chili Rest Camp (FB)

Day 12: Departure  
Drive back to Kampala and transfer to the airport to find your departure flight.
